Hi folks!
Thanks for stopping by! Since I retired in December of 2012, I've been on a spending rampage! I figured since I'll be home more often, and won't have a regular paycheck coming in, that I better tweak and update my house.
Sort of a last hurrah before I begin my next career! I started with the basement (that will be another blog post) and then moved on to the master bedroom.
Here's my pile of receipts.
Actually, I've been moving away from a more formal decorating style to something a bit more relaxed. I'm still trying to figure out what my style is?
As we evolve, we are attracted to different styles and color palettes.....
I haven't been satisfied with my bedroom for quite awhile. So the transformation started with the thought, "I need a new duvet cover."
Well, we all know that a duvet cover can easily lead to pillows, throws, etc. etc.
Here is an image from Pottery Barn that shows the Paisley pattern a little bit better.
This is my old duvet cover and pillow combo. I had curtains from Laura Ashley Lifestyle collection from 2009. I was never really happy with it but I settled. This bed isn't very inspiring is it?
So off to Pottery Barn! I wanted some of their pillows but whoa, I had to stop at 2 because they are pricey! I loved the duvet and bought a couple of Euro pillows and inserts from them.
I really, really wanted the quilt coverlet that coordinated with the duvet cover but I wasn't about to spend $300.00 for a coverlet so I settled on spending $200.00 and it included the matching standard pillows and covers.
It's difficult to get good pictures because I have a tiny master bedroom (10 by 14 ft) It's not massive like some of the gorgeous blogs that I visit but it's mine and it's cozy!
Here's an image I found of my bedroom set that was purchased in 2009. It's a Cindy Crawford design called Savannah.
The quilt coverlet is nice! I found it at Nordstroms. It's 100% cotton. Part of the experience of a bedroom is the tactile feel of soft luxurious natural fabrics. No more polyester for my bedroom!
The duvet cover is made of a linen and cotton blend. Even Mr. Delightful said he loves the bedroom now. He said, "You sure get what you pay for. "I love the way all the fabric feels and the down pillows are wonderful!"
Now that's something coming from Mr. frugal!
Most of the accessories are things I already had. I bought burlap lamp shades from Target and plopped them on my old lamp.

I'm thinking about painting this little side table, your thoughts?
We really got lucky with the drapes. We stopped at J.C. Penney and found a cotton/linen blend for only $12.00 per panel. Even the drapery rods were on clearance!
Hubby and I are loving the organic look and feel of the fabrics!
Isn't the jewelry holder cute?
The shutter is another great place to hang jewelry.
Above the shutter sits one of my favorite prayers since childhood.
What bedroom wouldn't be complete without a little side chair? As you can see our bed takes up most of the room. We had to get a king sized bed to fit our little shih tzu pups! Kayla is a bigger Shih Tzu (22 pounds) and she likes to spread out when she sleeps!
Love the Pier One throw! The chair used to be dark brown. It's painted with Annie Sloan White chalk paint.
Phones sure have changed since I was born! I just got a new Droid Razr smart phone that makes me feel dumb!
This morning I was awakened to the very loud sound of roosters crowing.
I wondered what the heck is that? It was my phone!
I hope you like our delightful bedroom makeover.
