Did the title grab your attention? I hope so. The Delightful Eclectic Abode is a small home (about 1100 square feet) so we need to use every bit of space.
Thank god for our basement! We finished it about 13 years ago and it gets lot of use. We're having a holiday gathering on Saturday and this is where most of the festivities will be taking place.
Come on down and take a peek at the cave!
Our basement is decorated in a woodsy, south american/cabin style. I guess that's what you could call it.
We have a big comfy couch to sink into. On cold chilly nights we wrap ourselves in one of the Pendleton wool blankets. We just added a faux fireplace to put the flat screen tv on. It added warmth and ambience to the space.
My little helper Kayla. She loves to follow me around while I'm taking photos.
The dining table is nothing fancy. It's a banquet table with mix-matched card table chairs. This table is also the place where I sew and do craft projects. Put a tablecloth on it and it's ready to be dressed for a party.
Kayla loves sinking into the couch. How do you like my faux bear? Perfect for a cave don't ya think?
I use this Lane chest to store extra blankets and linens for the pull out sofa couch. I think it makes a nice little place to sit with all the pillows.
I love this table! It reminds me of an old antique spanish door. The rest of the table is wrought iron.
This is a sewing table that has 2 sides that fold out. We also use this for a serving buffet when we're having parties. I have a mini kitchen on the other side of the room with cabinets and a fridge. It's kind of messy right now so I didn't include it in this post.
A couple of wall hangings. I also play the native american flute. I love the haunting sounds it makes.
What man cave wouldn't be complete without a bathroom. Hmmm......Let's see a fridge with beverages and a bathroom, you'd never have to leave.
This is the bathroom that we use to take showers. It helps keep the upstairs bathroom clean. I also wanted a bathroom large enough to have a table in it!
I keep a collection of rocks and a few picture frames on this table.
This picture was taken quite a few years ago in the Leelanau Pennisula area of Michigan. It's one of our favorite places to go. It's also considered a foodie destination. I also love walking around the Sleeping Bear national park with miles of gorgeous sand dunes.
I love this picture! I'll never forget this day. It was so much fun!
I've also added little touches like this fishing basket and native american dreamcatcher that a native american friend made for me many years ago. She was a very talented woman who also made baskets.
I have a small collection of handmade kachina dolls and a few pottery pieces that I keep in a small display case.
Mr. Delightful loves his man cave and so do I! Normally, I don't care for basements but ours is cozy and doesn't feel at all like a basement.
Let me know what you think. Do you have a finished basement?
Please leave a comment. I'd love to hear from you!
Today I'm linking up to Savvy Southern Style's wow us Wednesday!!! Head on over and be wowed with inspiration!
