Welcome to the Delightful Eclectic Abode! I'm glad you stopped by and hope you'll come back for many visits.
This is the place where I share my love of gardening, decorating, DIY, thrifting and daily living adventures!
I don't claim to be a decorator but as each year passes, I'm becoming more confident in my styling choices. I'm also learning to use the manual control on my Canon 60 D! There sure is a lot to learn about photography! I think it's time I update my photos on this page.....coming soon. By the way, as an artist I love to do stylized artistic photography. I'll be adding a page for this too.
I'm an animal lover and have 2 senior Shih Tzus. I'm also a stepmom to a great guy who has 3 children. That makes me a grandmother! They live in Delaware and I live in Michigan so we don't see each other very often but when we do.....we make the most of our visits!
Oh, and I'm just a tad bit ADHD. That's why I never finished my bachelor degree.....and why my writing is all over the place! I call it the creative gene. It's just the way my brain is wired so I'm going with it!
One of my favorite things to do is look at beautiful homes and architecture. Mr. Delightful and I love to take drives to historic towns. This is a home I admire in a little town near my house and often dreamed of owning one like this.
I'm a dreamer, but it's also important to embrace where you are. That's exactly what I've done. Since I'm not moving anytime soon, I'm making the most of what I have!
This is where I live with my husband Dave and 2 adorable Shih Tzus.
Come on in..... and meet the residents.
This is me and my name is Sandy. I'm the one with all the ideas and I drive my husband crazy because when one project is finished, I'm on to the next new project. He says it drives him crazy, but I know he really likes coming along for the ride because it keeps life interesting. As long as my projects don't keep him from enjoying Camero driving season, he's happy.
This is my husband Dave, my soul-mate and best friend. He's an awesome guy that really knows how to work with power tools! He just got a new compressor and air gun so look out Dave! My mind is spinning with all the project possibilities!
Meet Kensie (on the left) Kensie's my little patrol dog. He's always on the alert for squirrels and any stray cats roaming our yard.
Kayla, the one on the right, is my little snuggle girl. She love's to sit on my lap and take naps. She's very senstive to noise and will hide out in the guest bedroom on the soft duvet cover with her little stuffed duck.
Here are a few of my vintage collections. I'm a relatively new collector of old things.
The 1940's china cabinet holds some of my treasures. My mom gave me a Fire King platter a few years ago and I was instantly smitten with the beautiful translucent shade of green! I'm always on the hunt for the real deal and authentic Fire King!
Collecting vintage scales is a new interest of mine. I have two scales. My husband thinks this is enough.
In November, 2012 I retired from my full-time job at a large university where I worked in student services and managed events for the medical school. Since retiring, I have more time to blog but still have difficulty finding balance.
I've been a road side scavenger most of my life and love to find things to re-purpose! Oh, and get a paintbrush in my hand.....and most of the furniture in the house will be a new color.
Come join me on my crafting, decorating and treasure hunting adventures!
